Arol Wolford
President and CEO

Arol Wolford is a pioneer and passionate advocate of building intelligence. He has devoted his career to the proposition that sharing information among owners, architects, contractors, and manufacturers is the key to creating better and more efficient buildings.

Arol is the founder of Construction Market Data (CMD), a global leader in building information serving the United States, Canada, Mexico, Denmark, Finland, Norway, Sweden, China, Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia and Australia. The company grew from 5 employees in 1982 to 1300 employees in 2000 and offered well-known information sources such as CMD Bulletins, Architects’ First Source, CanaData, Clark Reports, CMD Electronic, CMD Connect to Sales Force and Microsoft CRM, Manufacturers’ Survey Associates, and RSMeans. CMD Group was acquired by Reed Elsevier $300 million in 2000.

Arol was one of the original board member’s of Revit Technology Corporation, creator of the first parametric building modeler. Revit was sold to Autodesk in 2002 for $133 million. In 2003, Arol founded SmartBIM, a creator of Revit Objects. The American Institute of Architects (AIA) named Arol an honorary member in 1997 and in 2007 chose him to serve on the AIA 150 Board, the first non-architect to be so honored. Arol was the Construction Specification Institute (CSI) President’s Award Winner in 1999. Arol serves on the board for Building Systems Design (BSD Speclink) and ManufactOn.

Iain Melville

Iain Melville is an experienced business leader with a demonstrated reputation for achieving great outcomes for customers through businesses that maximize the potential of people, systems and information in data and technology driven environments.

Following a 30-year corporate career, Melville is now an investor, mentor and entrepreneur fostering the prosperity, growth and development of software and data businesses serving the construction industry internationally. While with the RELX Group, from 2006 to 2013, Melville served as Chief Executive of Construction Market Data and RS Means where he transformed the company’s digital business and delivered sustained growth and multiple new products, also aligning the company as the inaugural strategic partner of the AIA. Prior to that, from 2001 to 2006 he was Managing Director of Reed Business Information where he was responsible for company-wide on-line strategy, acquisitions and innovation and liaised with the UK Government on digital strategy. Melville was also a founding director of the UK association of online publishers (UKAOP) and served on the board of directors.

From 1996 to 2001 Melville was Executive Director of United Business Media where he was responsible for multiple vertical markets and early internet ventures. He was previously European Managing Director for IIR (now part of Informa Group) and spent his early career in a variety of roles with Reed Exhibitions. Iain is serves on the board of Building Systems Design (BSD Speclink). He is a graduate of Lancaster University.

Sanjay Mistry
Head of Sales

Sanjay Mistry brings 20 years of user experience and sound technical, development, and business expertise. He has dedicated his career to working in the design, film, and games industries and possesses in-depth knowledge of each global market, ranging from product development to sales.

Sanjay was the Global Director for the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) and Manufacturing industries at Unity Technologies, responsible for developing a new business vertical, managing a technology team supporting new tools and driving revenue growth.

Prior to Unity Sanjay was the heads of sales and marketing at Shotgun Software, where he was responsible for scaling operations, driving global revenue growth and looking at new market opportunities. (Autodesk Acquired Shotgun 2014). He has also held positions at Autodesk, Softimage (Autodesk Acquired Softimage 2008), Electronic Arts, and Alias|Wavefront. He has worked with the most notable brands within the Media and Entertainment industry, including Sony Pictures, MPC, Double Negative, Disney, and Warner Brothers. Sanjay had received many accolades and was part of the development team at Alias|Wavefront, the creator of Maya when it won an Oscar for outstanding technology. During his tenure at EA, Sanjay won many British Academy of Television Arts (BAFTA) awards for games that he helped develop and is one the founding members of the BAFTA Video Games Committee and a BAFTA elected member for over ten years and reelected for 2018/19.

Joel Pennington
Head of Product

Joel Pennington is a Mixed Reality visionary with over 18 years of experience developing experiences and products for Augmented and Virtual Reality. As the Head of Product, he is the leading evangelist of VIM AEC’s product and solutions. Joel oversees VIM AEC’s product vision, strategy, design, and development. Before joining VIM AEC, Joel held management, art, and technical positions at Autodesk, Disney, and Electronic Arts.

At Autodesk, Joel helped lead augmented and virtual reality, strategy and development. He was a Product Manager for Revit LIVE and led design in collaboration with James Cameron’s company, Lightstorm, to rebuild Jim’s Augmented Reality Film camera.

At Disney and Electronic Arts, Joel spent ten years working on Film Virtual Production features for Tent Pole movies and AAA game titles. Joel graduated from the Vancouver Film School in 2001. His short film, “A Cheese Without Cause,” won several awards and was shown at film festivals throughout North America.

Alexa Wolford, MBA
Head of Marketing

Alexa started her career out working as an account executive in the engineering field for Oxford International as a lead account recruiter. In tandem with that and obtaining her MBA from Lynn University specializing in marketing, she owned and operated her own business; Ladies Workout Express. Once she made a move back to Atlanta, GA to be by family, she realized the importance to help create brand awareness of emerging technology for the architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) industry. She has since then spent the last five years working to help promote VIM.
